It is a personal exploration of what it means to be connected or disconnected from an environment, and examines the multitude of visual and psychological relationships between an individual and their surroundings.
While different bodies can be seen wearing this headpiece, in my mind they are all embodying the same character - an archetypal figure that is simple, not in terms of intelligence or complexity, but perhaps in terms of mechanics. They take in the surroundings and repeat it back. That output is distorted and sometimes blurred, by nature of the translation process. The feeling of disorientation and not-belonging are deeply rooted in my experience as a child of immigrant parents growing up in Utah, but by no means unique to my personal experience.
